A namesake of this publication was first circulated on a weekly basis in New York City in 1845. The editor of the New York Telegraph newspaper of the day was Rev. A. The current-day New York Telegraph is a showpiece of the latest general news about the city. Local headlines are accompanied by national news and global business reports. A three-day weather forecast for New York City is displayed, as well as news from across the state and around the globe.
The portal offers a daily email service by subscription (complimentary) and the ability for webmasters to add New York news to other unrelated sites.

Mission: New York Telegraph was conceived in 2002 to provide up-to-the minute local news, together with national and international headlines as part of a global network pooling resources to deliver a quality service to member portals. Each online publication has been modelled on a newspaper format for familiar readability by users. The locations forming part of the network were selected on the basis of demand for news for that location. New York Telegraph, effectively an online newspaper, provides coverage of the city and state. International news, business and finance stories are common across the network of sites, and are drawn from a number of sources including original in-house journalists and wire services.
New York Telegraph and the other sites are administered by Midwest Radio Network.
